Sydney adjusted 150 ice cream formulas and edited our database using Genesis R&D product formulation software after a supplier made minor changes to their stabilizer. She organized and updated the vendor book and restructured information in a format that future updates can be made efficiently. Additionally she created spreadsheets containing information sent to the Pennsylvania Milk Marketing Board and discovered an equation glitch in one of the key documents. She reorganized dry and cold storage warehouses using magnetic strips containing information on pars and minimum orders for each item. She created a completely new ice cream mix production record of manufacture that can be downloaded from our website. These projects and interactions with Creamery staff helped her better understand nutrition labeling requirements, the content of federal and state forms involved in audits, retail operations, production records and inventory.
Beginning fall 2011 Sydney will attend Purdue University and begin a Masters degree in Food Science. After graduate school, she hopes to work in the food industry.
